This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lie open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand-marbled by Jemma Lewis in Wiltshire, England and its spine is covered in hand-finished Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah. Its gilding was hand-applied using one of our new tools carved by Kevin Noakes in Rustington, West Sussex, England.
The talisman in this book is a 1915 Parisian Art School Drawing Award. Its obverse reads: “Ville de Paris, Ecole Municipale de Dessin Pratique. 3rd Anee. Couterences Techniques sur l’Ameublement. 2nd Accessit Moncoq, Ernest, 1915.”
