This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lie open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands are goatskin, and its bookmark is calfskin. Its boards are wrapped in washi paper that was hand silk-screened in a Japanese factory where kimono silks are decorated, and its spine is covered in Badalassi Italian calfskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah. Its ormolu was hand-applied using one of our centuries old bronze tools.
The talisman in this book is a 20th century French bakery union medal. Its obverse reads: “Syndicate General de La Boulangerie Française.”
