Chicken Feed

$120.00

This archival, hand-sewn journal is made from 100 gsm, rose Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Germany, sewn with  Irish linen thread in the linked pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.

This book’s endbands are red and white cotton, and its bookmark is red grosgrain ribbon.  Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand silk-screened in Japan in a factory where kimono silks are decorated.

The talisman in this book is a late 19th century French award presented by the Société d’Agriculture de L’est de la France. E.B. White, who is perhaps best-known for having written the children’s classic Charlotte’s Web, was also a celebrated essayist.  He once observed, “I don’t know is more discouraging, literature or chickens.”  Your vexations are safely listed here.
