This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lie open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in archival paper that was hand-marbled by Katherine Brett at Payhembury Papers in Migdale, Southerland, Scotland, and the book is half-bound in Brillianta book cloth from the Netherlands. The spine is hand gilded with a fleur de lis tool that is more than centuries old.
The talisman in this book is a 20th Century dog show medal from Toulouse, France. Its obverse reads: “Societé Canine du Sud-Ouest, Toulouse”
