This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in a 1953 map of the United States of America. The book is half-leathered with Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah.
The talisman in this book is a 1972 commemoration of America’s National Parks System. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the proclamation creating the National Park Service although Yellowstone National Park had been established in 1872 under President Ulysses S. Grant.
