This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lie open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands goatskin, and its bookmark is calfskin. Its boards are wrapped the 50th anniversary reissue of the 1947 Michelin Battle of Normandy map, and its spine is covered in Badalassi walnut calfskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah.
The talisman in this book is a 1945 United States “walking liberty” silver dollar.
