This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lie open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands are goatskin, and its bookmark is calfskin. Its boards are wrapped in a 1949 map of Europe, and its spine is covered in hand-finished Badalassi Italian calfskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah. Its ormolu is hand-applied using our hundreds of years old leather tooling iron.
The talisman in this book is a souvenir from le premiere Etáge landing of the Eiffel Tower from the 1889 Exposition Universelle.
