This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in a 1975 tourist map of Paris, and the book is half-leathered in Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah.
The talisman in this book is a souvenir from the 1875 dedication of the Basilica Sacre Couer. Its obverse reads “Eglise dediee au Sacre Coeur de Jesus eglise a Paris, De Pie IX, Hipp Guibert card archev de Paris, Benissant La 1ee Pierre, Le 16 Juin 1875.”
