Sail Away
This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
This book is decorated on recto, using vintage wood type printed on our 1882 Golding Pearl #1 printing press.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in a 1997 map of Yukon and Northern Territories that was hand-marbled by Jemma Lewis in Wiltshire, England. Its spine is covered with Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah.
The talisman in this book is a mid 20th-Century sailing medal. It shows a regatta in bas relief.
