This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand-marbled by Betty Caponi in Monte San Giusto, Italy, and its spine is covered in Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah.
The talisman in this book is a performance medal given to an employee (Robert Martin) of a French accounting firm in 1976. Its obverse reads: “Societe de Comptabilite de France. Homage a Robert Martin, 1976. Reconnue d’Utilite Publique. Paris.”
