This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, rose Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584.  It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts.  This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.

The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in a 1969 map of the Middle East, and the book is half-leathered in Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah.

The talisman in this book is a 15th century Ottoman relic.  The 15th century was a prosperous period of expansion for the Ottoman
