This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lie open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands are goatskin, and its bookmark is calfskin. Its boards are wrapped in a 1931 map of Illinois, and its spine is covered in Badalassi Italian calfskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain leather Supply in Sandy, Utah. The book has been hand-tooled using modern irons crafted by Kevin Noakes in Rustington, West Sussex, England.
The talisman in this book is a watch fob souvenir from the 1933 World’s Fair in Chicago.
