This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, rose Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lie open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand-marbled by Joao Paulo Moriera at JPMarbling in London, and its spine is covered in Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah. Its gilding was hand-applied using one a tool carved by Kevin Noakes in Rustington, West Sussex, England.
The talisman in this book is a mid-20th Century medal bestowed by a member of the French National Assembly. Its obverse reads: “Offert par Roger Bouret Depute.”
