This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
This book is decorated on recto, featuring vintage cuts that were printed on our 1882 Golding Pearl #1 printing press.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand-marbled by Bety Caponi in Monte San Giusto, Italy. The book is half-leathered with pigskin from Landwerlen Leathers, Indianapolis.
The talisman in this book is an 1897 French 10 Centime coin bearing the French national motto: “Liberty, Egalite, Fraternite.”
